About the gst invoice generator
Use this free GST invoice generator for domestic forward-charge billing in India. It creates a tax invoice with business and customer details, GSTINs, the place of supply, quantities, units, HSN/SAC codes and item-wise taxes. Amounts use INR. You can choose Classic, Studio or Minimal, add a logo and brand color, then print or save the invoice as a PDF without creating an account.
CGST and SGST, or IGST?
For ordinary domestic supplies, the supplier’s location and the place of supply determine the tax components. When both are in the same state, the tool splits the total rate equally between CGST and SGST. It labels the local component UTGST for applicable union territories. When the locations differ, it applies IGST at the full rate. Enter the actual place of supply; it is not always the customer’s mailing address.
Example: generating an invoice with 18% GST
Suppose your taxable amount after discount is ₹10,000 and the applicable rate you enter is 18%. For an intrastate supply, CGST is ₹900 at 9% and SGST is ₹900 at 9%, making the total ₹11,800. For an interstate supply, IGST is ₹1,800 at 18%, with the same total. This is a calculation example, not a rate recommendation for a product or service.
Mixed GST rates and invoice discounts
Each line has its own GST rate, so different items can have different rates. Prices are tax-exclusive. An invoice discount is allocated across line items in proportion to their value before GST is calculated. The allocation preserves the total discount to the paise. Each component tax is rounded per line to two decimal places and appears in the PDF breakdown.
HSN and SAC codes on your GST invoice
Goods use HSN classifications; services use SAC classifications. Enable HSN/SAC and enter an appropriate 4, 6 or 8-digit code for each line. The built-in finder searches the GST portal’s catalogue. It does not decide your classification or tax rate. Confirm the code length and disclosure rules applicable to your invoice before issuing it.
Before issuing the invoice
Check the addresses, GSTINs, invoice number, supply details and rates. Use a number unique within your financial year and add any required signature. This generator supports ordinary domestic forward-charge invoices; it does not support exports, SEZ supplies, reverse charge, cess, e-invoice registration or filing. If IRN registration is required for your business, complete it through the appropriate system.
Frequently asked questions
Is this GST invoice generator free without login?
Yes. Create, preview and print a GST invoice without registering. Your PDF has no Startup OG watermark. You can also save up to 20 drafts in this browser.
Can I generate an invoice with CGST and SGST?
Yes. Choose the same supplier state and place of supply, then enter the total GST rate for each item. The generator splits that rate equally between CGST and SGST, or UTGST where applicable.
How do I select IGST for an interstate invoice?
Select different states for the supplier’s location and place of supply. The generator applies the whole entered GST rate as IGST and shows it separately in the preview and PDF.
Does the GST invoice support HSN and SAC codes?
Yes. Enable HSN/SAC and add a code to each item, or use the inline finder. You can disable the field when code disclosure is not required for your invoice. Two-digit chapters are not accepted as invoice codes.
Can I use tax-inclusive prices?
Enter tax-exclusive unit prices. GST is added to the taxable value after discount. If your selling price already includes GST, first divide it by 1 plus the GST rate as a decimal to obtain the tax-exclusive price.
Does it verify GSTIN registration or generate an IRN?
No. It checks GSTIN format and its state prefix, but does not verify registration status. It generates a printable invoice, not a registered e-invoice, e-way bill or GST return.
Can I add a logo and reuse a GST invoice?
Yes. All three templates support your logo and accent color. Save a draft and duplicate it for repeat billing, updating the invoice number, dates and amounts.
