Preparing your invoice…

How to use the invoice generator

  1. 1Add your business and client details, invoice number, dates and currency.
  2. 2Enter line items, then any discount, tax and amount already paid. Review the live preview.
  3. 3Choose Print / save PDF, then Save as PDF in your browser. Disable browser headers and footers for a clean document.
  4. 4Save a draft on this device. Duplicate it for your next invoice and update the number and dates.

Invoice details stay on your device. Drafts are saved in this browser only when you choose Save draft. Clearing browser storage removes them; export PDFs for your records.

About the invoice generator

Create an invoice for freelance work, consulting, agency projects or product sales without a spreadsheet template. Add sender and client details, describe the work, set quantities and rates, and review the amount due before exporting. The generator supports USD, EUR, GBP, INR, CAD, AUD, SGD and AED. It keeps invoice details in your browser and does not add a Startup OG watermark to the printed invoice.

How invoice totals are calculated

Each line amount is quantity × unit rate, rounded to two decimal places. The subtotal is the sum of those rounded lines. A percentage discount reduces the subtotal; tax applies to the discounted amount. Any payment already received is then deducted from the total to show the balance due.

Worked example: a consulting invoice

For 10 hours at $75, the subtotal is $750. A 10% discount subtracts $75, leaving $675. At a tax rate you enter of 8%, tax adds $54 and the invoice total is $729. If the client already paid $200, the balance due is $529. Rates in this example illustrate the calculation; the tool does not choose a tax rate for you.

A faster workflow for repeat clients

Save a draft after adding your business and payment details. Next month, duplicate it, assign a new invoice number, update the dates and line items, then export a new PDF. Save up to 20 drafts per browser. Exported PDFs are your permanent copies; drafts do not sync between devices.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add my logo and choose an invoice template?

Yes. Upload a PNG, JPG or WebP logo up to 2 MB, choose Classic, Studio or Minimal, and pick an accent color. Your logo is resized locally, appears in the preview and printed PDF, and stays with your saved draft.

Can I download an invoice as a PDF for free?

Yes. Click Print / save PDF and choose Save as PDF in your browser’s print dialog. Disable browser headers and footers if you do not want the page title and URL on the invoice. There is no watermark or signup requirement.

Are my invoice details uploaded?

No. Calculations and print preparation happen in your browser. Drafts are written to this device’s browser storage only when you click Save draft. They are not sent to our server or shared between devices.

Can I add tax, a discount and a deposit?

Yes. Set a percentage discount and tax rate, then enter any amount already paid. Tax is calculated after the discount. Standard invoices use one tax rate. Switch to Indian GST invoice for per-item GST rates, GSTINs, HSN/SAC and CGST/SGST or IGST breakdowns.

Can I use the same invoice for a repeat client?

Save a draft, then use Duplicate in the saved drafts list. The copy gets a new internal ID and today’s issue date. Set a unique invoice number and due date before exporting it.

Where are saved drafts kept?

In local browser storage on this device. Clearing site data, switching browsers or using a different device will not preserve these drafts. Save PDF copies for your records. Private browsing may erase drafts when you close the session.
