About the roi calculator

An ROI (return on investment) calculator measures whether a spend paid off: ROI % = (return − investment) ÷ investment × 100. It is the fastest way to compare a marketing channel, a hire, a tool subscription or a campaign on equal footing. This calculator also shows net profit and the return multiple so you can talk in both "%" and "x" terms.

Frequently asked questions

Is this tool free?

Yes — completely free, no signup, no watermark and no limits. Startup OG funds the site through its directory and partner program, not paywalled tools.

How is ROI calculated?

ROI = (amount returned − amount invested) ÷ amount invested × 100, expressed as a percentage. A result of 100% means you doubled your money; 0% means you broke even.

What is a good ROI?

Any positive ROI beats losing money, but for marketing spend many founders target 3x+ (200%+) to cover overhead and risk. Compare against your alternative use of the cash.

What is the difference between ROI and ROAS?

ROAS (return on ad spend) uses gross revenue; ROI uses net profit after costs. ROAS looks better but ROI is the honest number for decisions.
